Does my Past matter? How the tribe of Levi went from being a cursed tribe to the most blessed tribe in Isreal

II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
From GOD’s previous two post, seeing as we started from JUDE and landed with Korah the Levite; I found myself on the tribe of Levi and reading and studying more about them, how and why they were the tribe chosen to be GOD’S minister.
It was interesting that it wasn’t always like this; they started out as a cursed nation/tribe, so how then did they move to be a blessed, dare to say the most blessed tribe out of Isreal then?
This leads me to say this with the help of the SPIRIT OF THE LIVING GOD:
What is it you have gone through, where you are from; your past doesn’t determine your future. Just stand with God and see how HE will change your story.
So let’s study a bit on the Tribe of Levi by GOD’S grace.
You know the 12 sons of Jacob represent the 12 tribes of Isreal and Levi was the third son of Jacob.
Levi and Simeon both had deceived and killed men that violated their sister Dinah; Genesis 34 records this. Due to this, their father, Jacob, instead of blessing them during his last moments on earth cursed them.
Genesis 49:5-7 NIV
““Simeon and Levi are brothers— their swords are weapons of violence. Let me not enter their council, let me not join their assembly, for they have killed men in their anger and hamstrung oxen as they pleased. Cursed be their anger, so fierce, and their fury, so cruel! I will scatter them in Jacob and disperse them in Israel.”
So how did they go from being cursed to be the tribe GOD specially choose to be HIS people and Ministers?
Numbers 3:12 NKJV
““Now behold, I Myself have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the children of Israel. Therefore the Levites shall be Mine,”. “Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock. The Levites shall be Mine: I am the Lord.”
Deuteronomy 18:5 NIV
“for the Lord your God has chosen them and their descendants out of all your tribes to stand and minister in the Lord’s name always.”
The answer is in the Exodus 32; where Moses went up Mount Sinai to get the 10 commandments and upon returning, the people of Isreal had made a golden calf idol to worship.
And when Moses called for whosoever was on the LORD’S side to come to him; only the Levites answered that call and came to him.
Exodus 32:26 NKJV
“then Moses stood in the entrance of the camp, and said, “Whoever is on the Lord’s side—come to me!” And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together to him.”
Exodus 32:29 NIV
“Then Moses said, “You have been set apart to the Lord today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day.””
The Levites were given the responsibility of the priesthood because of their zeal in defending God’s honor. They stood for GOD and GOD changed their story.
What does this tell us?
Sometimes, we let past sins still hold us down, that GOD is angry with me, disappointed, I’ll suffer the consequences of my sin forever, but don’t you see how God turned the story of the house of Levi; from a cursed people to literally a blessed chosen house?
They even ended up having the best inheritance out of all the tribe of Isreal! THE LORD HIMSELF was their inheritance; GOD himself took care of them; Hallelujah 🙌 and they were surely taken care of, Amen Amen.
Deuteronomy 18:1-2 NKJV
““The priests, the Levites—all the tribe of Levi—shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; they shall eat the offerings of the Lord made by fire, and His portion. Therefore they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the Lord is their inheritance, as He said to them.”
Deuteronomy 18:5 NKJV
“For the Lord your God has chosen him out of all your tribes to stand to minister in the name of the Lord, him and his sons forever.”
Joshua 13:33 NKJV
“But to the tribe of Levi Moses had given no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel was their inheritance, as He had said to them.”
So see what GOD is telling us:
Isaiah 43:18-19 NKJV
““Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.”
So what questions are you asking yourself, linked to your past?
Does my past matter, can GOD still use me?
Can God still love me?
Can I still make it in life seeing as this happened in the past, I did this?
Oh beloved, see what 2cor tells us:
II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
You are made new in JESUS, old things have passed away and don’t stand valid anymore.
It goes both ways as well;
We see God originally consecrated the firstborn sons of the Israelites in Exodus 13:11-15,
Exodus 13:11-13 NKJV
““And it shall be, when the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, as He swore to you and your fathers, and gives it to you, that you shall set apart to the Lord all that open the womb, that is, every firstborn that comes from an animal which you have; the males shall be the Lord’s. But every firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb; and if you will not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. And all the firstborn of man among your sons you shall redeem.”
but now, instead He chose the tribe of Levi to take their place in His service.
Numbers 3:12 NKJV

Numbers 3:45 NKJV
““Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites instead of their livestock. The Levites shall be Mine: I am the Lord.”
At this time, the firstborn lost their special status, and it was transferred to the Levites because of their rebellion. So, yes the promises of GOD are yea and amen but you have your part to play; yes hold on to that sure word of prophecy but if you forsake GOD…….
Both Simeon and Levi received the curses to be scattered, but Levi tribe/household story changed because of their faithfulness during the rebellion of the golden calf.
Did the curse on the house of Simeon still hold?
Yes it did; Jacob’s pronouncement “I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel” came true for them.
The tribe of Simeon was the smallest and weakest of all the tribes at the close of their sojourn in the wilderness, as noted in the second census of Moses (Numbers 26:14), and the tribe of Simeon was omitted from the blessing of Moses (Deuteronomy 33:8). Further, because of its size, the tribe of Simeon was forced to share territory with Judah, a larger and more powerful tribe (Joshua 19:1–9). Jacob did not cut the descendants of Simeon off from any part in the promised inheritance, but he did divide and scatter them.
Here the summary of it:
This is just to encourage someone, it doesn’t matter your past, where you are from, what you have done, who you think you are as a result of that; Just stand for GOD and in GOD and HE is able to change your story, only GOD is.
If you are still struggling with past hurts, pain, regrets, you think you can never be redeemed, restored; that’s a lie from the devil. From today just decide to stand with and for JESUS and see how HE will turn your life around.
GOD promise to me and you is that HE will forgive us our sins and remember them no more and give us a good inheritance.
Jeremiah 31:34 NKJV
“No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.””
So no matter what, JESUS is calling you; come to LIGHT🙏
Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV
“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Forget the past, break free from it and look to JESUS.
GOD help us in JESUS name, Amen🙏
Thank you GOD, I thank YOU not just for what YOU do; but for who YOU are LORD, I come to you today and ask that in areas where I’m struggling to let go, help me LORD to let go and let YOU. In areas where I am letting past sins/guilt still weigh me down, help me to forgive myself and embrace your forgiveness as well, in areas where I am letting fear from past situations hunt me, I ask that you cast out all fear from my heart, mind, and soul and help me to trust in your perfect love, knowing that you have a plan for my life. I surrender my fears to you and ask that you replace them with faith and hope. Help me break free LORD from my past and embrace the new Life, hope, joy, inheritance I have in YOU.
Thank YOU LORD JESUS, because in you I have been made new, whole and given a good godly inheritance.
I love you forever LORD, I am grateful always to you, AMEN🙏.
